The LGBT Scene in Vegas: A Complete Guide

Want to know more about the LGBT scene in Las Vegas?

Las Vegas has a reputation for many things. It’s not known as Sin City for no reason and this hedonistic party town is a Mecca for all kinds of vices including gambling, sex and an ‘anything goes’ kind of mentality. As well as being a popular spot for bachelors and bachelorettes, tourists and gamblers, Las Vegas is also a hub for the LGBT community. The city embraces diversity in many forms and you can find a whole range of venues that are primarily geared for the ‘pink dollar’.

In this guide, we explore all the popular places in Las Vegas that are aimed at the LGBT scene including nightclubs, bars, saunas, cruising areas as well as community groups and events. We also look at popular apps for LGBT dating in Las Vegas plus take a peek at the opportunities for LGBT escorts and in Nevada’s brothels.

The LGBT population in Nevada is one of the higher, per capita, in the United States with recent Gallup polls reporting that 4.3% of state’s population identifying as gay, lesbian, bisexual or transgender. As the jewel in the crown of Nevada’s celebration of diversity, Las Vegas very much flies the Rainbow Flag for the LGBT community. It is a city that is rich with variety in terms of entertainment, communities and events, helping residents and visitors to celebrate their identity.

Las Vegas has a great range of bars and drinking holes that are principally aimed at the LGBT community. Unlike a lot of cities, Las Vegas is used to tourists and visitors, so the bars tend to be far less ‘cliquey’ than in some other U.S. cities. As you would expect from this flamboyant city, a lot of the venues are themed and offer great entertainment and, sometimes, a little side line of gambling….just so you remember where you are!

Our top picks of the LGBT clubs and bars in Las Vegas are:

As in most major towns and cities, cruising is a popular way to hook up for a casual encounter in the gay community. Las Vegas is no exception and there are lots of places around the city that are apparently quite well-known gay cruising areas. Though they tend to be frequented by gay men, be aware that most of these places are public spaces and local decency laws apply if you are caught fooling around.

A little way outside of the city and you can find a nude gay beach at Lake Mead National Park. It’s actually found across the state line, but you can find it at Temple Bar Marina, AZ 86443. There are no facilities at this location so pack essentials for a day trip.

Another popular spot outside the city is the Gold Strike Canyon Hot Springs (Great Basin Hwy, Boulder City, NV 89005) where you can bathe for a fee (swimming gear optional) and can be a good place to pick up.

LGBT Community

Gay & Lesbian Community of Southern Nevada

Gay Vegas

Gay Vegas is one of the principle community websites for the LGBT community of Las Vegas. It is a directory on all the hotels, shows and restaurants that are LGBT-friendly. It also features regular news and features of upcoming community events that can be as varied and diverse as Jewish LGBT community balls and book clubs to sports events and celebrity interviews.

It’s a great online magazine for anyone who anyone living in the area of visiting Las Vegas who wants to know more about the LGBT scene.

You can register as a member and customise the types of information you want. Definitely one to bookmark.

The annual LGBT Pride Festival and Parade is usually held during October and full details can be found via the Las Vegas Pride website.

The organisation (and others) also hosts regular weekly events throughout the year including family days, social meets and workshops. A firm favorite is the weekly LGBT pool party held at the Luxor Hotel every Sunday (Temptation Sundays) as well as:

Their calendars cater for men and women who identify as gay, lesbian, bisexual or transsexual and you can find full details, here.

Presumably because of the sheer number of ways to hook up for casual sex in Las Vegas, there are a lot less gay escorts and rent boys than you might find in some other major U.S. cities.

Nevada Brothels

Despite the opening of an all-male brothel in 2010, the Shady Lady which subsequently closed, there are no gay brothels in Nevada.

In 2015, the popular Love Ranch (owned by Denis Hof) made history when it signed up the first transsexual prostitute to work in a legal brothel in Nevada. Madison Montag no longer works at the venue and, as far as know, there are no other bordellos in the state that offer the services of a T-girl.

Hook Up Apps

And, lastly we’ve covered a few of the most popular hook up apps that you can use whilst in Las Vegas to meet up with other gay, lesbian, trans and bisexuals.

All operating in a similar way to Tinder, each has their own USP, from some additional features to the kind of users they appeal to. They are all popular in Las Vegas and offer a convenient way to pick up locally.
